Civic test apps — Privacy Policy

Effective: 24 September 2026

This policy covers three practice apps for civics tests, each published as its own app and each called "the app" below:

What the app collects

Nothing. The app does not collect, store on a server, share or sell any personal or usage data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app requests no permissions, including no internet access.

What stays on your device

Your answers, test results, review progress, the region you choose, answers you type in yourself (for example the name of your senator), problem reports you write, and your settings are saved in the app's private storage on your phone so that you can resume a test and review your progress. They never leave the device through the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, deletes them.

Problem reports

If you choose "Send by email" in Settings, the app opens your phone's share sheet with the text of your reports: the question identifiers, the reason you picked, anything you typed, and the app version. Nothing is sent unless you pick an app and send the message yourself. What happens to that message is governed by the app you send it with and by our reply to your e-mail.

Some answers include a link (for example to senate.gov). Opening it hands the address to your browser; the app itself connects to nothing.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.
