Seikai JLPT — Privacy Policy
Effective: 26 October 2026
Seikai JLPT ("the app") is a JLPT practice and mock-test app for Android. This policy says what leaves your phone, why, and what you can switch off.
What stays on your phone
Your answers, test sittings, scores, mistakes, settings, and the questions you opened with a free unlock are kept in the app's private storage. If your phone's Google backup is on, Android copies a small file of this progress to your Google account's backup, so a reinstall or a new phone can bring it back. Seikai cannot see that backup.
What the app sends, and why
Content requests. The app downloads tests, listening audio, pictures and corrections from Seikai's content service (content.seikailearn.com). These requests carry the app's version and nothing that identifies you. The service also tells the app which country a request seems to come from (from the network address, through Cloudflare), so that the app knows whether to ask for your consent to statistics. The address itself is not stored.
Problem reports and feedback. When you write a "Report a problem" note on a question, or send feedback, the text you typed is sent with the question's id and the app version. It carries no account or device identifier.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase). If statistics are on, the app sends anonymous events: which level and screens are used, how long listening takes to load, whether downloads and purchases work. Firebase gives each installation a random app-instance id. The app never sends your answers, any text you type, or the advertising ID, and it never sets a user id. Statistics are on by default; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app asks first. You can switch them off at any time in Settings › Privacy. Codes and referrals. When you redeem a code or use "Invite friends", the app sends a random id it made for you (kept in your backup), a one-way hash of your device's Android ID, and the code. They are used to give you the pass time the code is worth and to stop one phone from redeeming the same code twice. Nothing else is linked to them.
Founders. If you first used Seikai before the founders' date, the app sends one note with the same random id and Android ID hash, the date you first used the app and the app version. It is used to count founders and to check the phone's clock against ours; nothing else is linked to it.
Purchases. The season pass is bought through Google Play. Google processes the payment; Seikai receives no card or payment details. The app passes Google Play a hash of its random id with the order, which Google uses against fraud.
Notifications
Reminders (the exam countdown with a nudge after a few days away, and the daily reminder) are scheduled on your phone, and set again after it restarts. Nothing is sent to set them up, and you can switch them off in Settings › Reminders or in Android's settings.
What we never do
No ads, no selling or sharing of data for advertising, no tracking across other apps, no account or sign-in.
Keeping and deleting
Statistics are kept by Google Analytics for 14 months. Code redemptions and referral records are kept while the season they belong to runs and for a year after. Feedback and problem reports are kept until they have been dealt with. To have code or referral records deleted, write to the address below with the code you used. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes everything on your phone.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If the app starts sending anything new, this policy is updated before that version is released.
