Video Background Remover — Privacy Policy

Video Background Remover: AI ("the app", shown on your phone as "BG Remover",
package com.videobgremover.app) is an Android app that removes or replaces
the background of a video on your phone.
What the app collects
Nothing. The app does not collect, upload, share or sell any personal data, videos, photos or usage data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking.
No internet access
The app does not have Android's Internet permission, so it cannot send anything off your phone, and it does not.
Your videos and photos
You choose a video, and optionally a photo for the background, with Android's own photo picker. The app sees only the files you pick; it never asks for access to your whole gallery.
The app processes the video on your phone. The person in each frame is separated from the background by a small machine-learning model that is built into the app and runs on the device. No frame, video or photo is sent anywhere.
The finished video is saved to your phone's Movies/BG Remover folder (on Android 8 and 9 it stays inside the app until you save a copy with "Save as…"). You decide whether to share it, with Android's share menu.
What stays in the app's private storage
- the list of your exports: a reference to each video you picked (so an export can be restarted), its name, length and size, the background you chose, and whether it finished;
- your settings (theme, keep the screen on);
- a copy of the background photo you picked, so an export can be restarted;
- while an export runs, the unfinished video file. It is deleted if the export is cancelled or fails.
This stays on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes it. Videos already saved to Movies/BG Remover stay in your gallery until you delete them.
If Android backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the export list and settings in your phone's own backup to your Google account, as it does for most apps. Videos and photos are excluded from it. The developer has no access to that backup.
Permissions
- Foreground service (with the "media processing" or "data sync" type, depending on the Android version): keeps an export you started running while you use other apps. It runs only during an export.
- Keep awake: lets an export continue while the screen is off, only during an export.
The app asks for no other permissions.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If a future version ever sends any data off your phone, this policy will be updated before that version is released and will say exactly what is sent and why.
